I was watching “Project Runway” last week and the designers were challenged to make outfits for dogs. I have no problems with it, dogs deserve nice clothes too. I do have a problem with small toy dogs being used as fashion accessories lately. Seems like every person who is trying to imitate a celebrity is getting one. If you like dogs, and can take care of them, then fantastic, many dogs need wonderful homes. However, it seems like dogs are being picked for their “looks” or the way they compliment their owners, or how they look while being carried in an overstuffed purse. Dogs are being treated in the way you would pick a new purse. Yes, it’s exciting at first, but what happens when it’s out of style? To me a fashion accessory is something I wear when it suits me and my outfit, and generally don’t think about otherwise. Dogs of course require a lot more work and love which is why the new trend is so horrendous. Dogs are people too, well actually they aren’t, they are dogs, but they still reserve more respect.
