Christmas Jewelry: Chrome Diopside
8 December 2006Traditional Christmas colors are red & green. The colors of rubies & emeralds. (Sounds a lot like yesterday’s post doesn’t it, well don’t underestimate me). However, if you deepen the kelly green to a darker green, you will have a better holiday look. (Bet you never expected that). When most people think of emeralds they think of a deep clear green. Maybe if you are Jessica Simpson, but most of us can only afford opaque, bright green emeralds. So instead, try chrome diopside, also known as Russian Emerald, or Russian Diamonds. Most Chrome Diopside comes from Siberia, which is apparently cold. So cold, & frozen, that they can only mine this gemstone a few months out of the year. Therefore, Russian Emeralds are pretty rare. It is also one of the few gemstones that isn’t enhanced or color treated, it is naturally that beautiful green color. This gemstone has brilliant color & a pretty neat story. You not only get the great gemstone, but you also have a story to tell about it when someone comments on it. (They will comment on this trust me)
