Women you haven’t heard of but should know: Dr. Ruth J. Simmons
16 March 2007The next in the line up of "Women You Haven’t Heard of" is Dr. Ruth J. Simmons. She was the first African American woman to head a top college, first as the president of Smith College, & now at Brown. She has also been voted the best college president by Time in 2001. According to wikipedia she has an over 80% approval rating among undergraduates.She might be able to relate to so many different kinds of people because she was one of 11 children. It was rumored in January that she was on the list of potential candidates to be the president of Harvard.
