Never trust anyone who tries to sell you a black sapphire. A black sapphire is really just a low quality blue sapphire. However, you can find low quality blue sapphires for not a lot of money & they look almost identical to a black diamond. Plus, sapphires are one of the hardest gemstones, so it will still be durable like a diamond. Just keep in mind that black diamond jewelry usually comes in smaller accent stones as pictured above, so keep the size of the stones believable. Also black diamonds are seen in more contemporary, trendy pieces. This is a great way to get a piece of jewelry that is on the edge of fashion, in a natural gemstone, without spending a lot of money.
