Grace Kelly Style
13 May 2007
Grace Kelly was the ultimate in femininity. She was a Princess after all. She exuded elegance, & pardon the pun, grace. I would love to look like her, but I’m no Grace Kelly. Here is how I think that her look would be updated for today.
Skirts. Last year saw a huge resurgence in skirts, big fluffy skirts that look like they would be fun to twirl in.
Dresses. A good dress is hard to find, but it’s well worth the hunt as it’s an investment that can last several years & be dressed up or down & used for any occasion.
Wraps. Grace seemed to wear these a lot to cover her shoulders, & there are lots of cute shrugs that can be worn everyday.
Pearls. This is great because pearls are quite inexpensive & you can wear them everyday & always look classic & stylish.
High Heels. I’m don’t own a lot of high heels, because they aren’t comfortable, but they do lend an instant air of sophistication.
I think the main thing with Grace’s look is that it be tailored & clean. Think of all of those old shots of movie stars walking d own stairways & ask yourself, is this is a stairway outfit? In fact, most people already have everything in their closet to put this look together, they just hesitate because they don’t want to look too dressed up, which I think is a mistake. So it’s quite simple to look sophisticated, although I wish that pill box hats & white gloves would come back in style, maybe next year.
