Color Matching

14 May 2007

When picking accessories it’s difficult to know what "matches".  Should you go with something the color of your outfit, or a completely different color? This can be especially stressful in the spring time when clothes tend to be in brighter colors, & it’s time to ditch all of the black/gray/brown clothes of winter. It can be especially frustrating this season when it seems like all of  the new colors hate me.

The great thing about winter is that all of my clothes match because they are all brown.  Everything goes together. Then Spring hits & I see all the bright colors & think, "I can do that", it seems so refreshing.  However, coordinating an outfit with accessories, shoes, makeup & a purse that all looks good together can be so frustrating that I almost wish it was winter time again (almost).  Here’s just a few things to keep in mind.

Just because it burns the retina’s, doesn’t mean it is "Springy".

Think of where you have used color successfully, whether it’s in decorating, art, or shoe shopping. Then think of how you reached the conclusion that you did, you can think of jewelry as a color wheel if it helps you.

Less is more, a neutral is needed in pretty much every outfit.

How do you coordinate spring colors?
