It’s not that I hate the month of May, but I’m pretty excited for it to be over. It’s been really difficult to find affordable, quality emeralds. Most people think that emeralds are dark green and very sparkly and very clear. This is very rarely the case because the emeralds that are coming out of the earth now aren’t quality emeralds. However, when the untrained eye sees a bright green, cloudy, spotted emerald they just think ewww. They don’t understand that it may have cost thousands of dollars. An emerald is certainly worthy of such a price. However, it just won’t have the wow factor because it isn’t what people will be expecting.
Chrome Diopside is the deep green color that we associate with emeralds. It is clear, sparkly and looks very expensive. However, it isn’t quite as expensive as an emerald if you can find it. Chrome Diopside has the distinction of being one of the few untreated gemstones. Most gemstones, an estimated a 80-90 percent of gemstones, are heat treated in order to bring out the color.
