Serious Bling

Sterling Silver 2.20ctw Tanzanite Ring In order to celebrate my blogaviersary, I bought a 2 carat tanzanite ring set in sterling silver, for under $50.  Everyone has said that it looks like thousands of dollars.  It really does.  I never thought that I would be able to own so much tanzanite.  I think it has to do with the fact that it’s set in silver, & tanzanite doesn’t seem to be suffering quite as much as it was a few years ago.  However, the  mines will still run out someday, so it’s a good idea to buy it now while it’s affordable.

Most of my precious gemstone rings are pretty tiny.  This ring can be easily seen across the room. I’m not even into the "Lord of the Rings’, but I can’t help looking at it & thinking, my precious.

Take the sting out of being a grown up

I remember being a little girl & being so excited to someday be a “grown up”. I pictured being “grown up” to consist of wearing fancy ball gowns everyday & living in a pink house. I would wear a faux fur coat, & be dripping in diamonds. Granted, I should’ve noticed that this was not the life that my parents or any adult I know lived, & consisted only when I was playing with my Barbies.

Now that I’m grown up, I kind of wish I was a kid again & didn’t have all the responsibility that I do now. I find one thing that helps ease the pain of being a grown up is to celebrate little accomplishments. Most of us don’t get to go to big parties, & wear ball gowns. However, life is a lot more interesting if you take time & a little effort to really celebrate things. For instance, for the one year anniversary of my blog, I bought myself a new ring. Whenever I look at it, I smile & remember my accomplishments. Most people think that they can’t afford to buy jewelry to celebrate little or big occasions. However, you can if you know where to go.

Online jewelry stores don’t have a lot of overhead, & sometimes they pass the savings onto you, which means that you can buy more jewelry & own jewelry that you’ve never dreamed about. White Flash, the diamond jewelry store, is one such place. They are dedicated to finding you the perfect piece of jewelry & they have excellent customer service. They have a great section about diamond information. You can lead at least some of the life you dreamed of as a little girl, if you know where to shop.

Back in the day

A year ago yesterday, I started this blog.  I was excited to finally be able to share my opinions with people.  I have so many of them that everyone in my real life had already tuned me out.  It was funny because in middle school, I had wanted to become a writer.  As I grew up I decided to major in something more practical & "employable".  With blogging, I ended up becoming a writer anyways. I’m one of the few people that I know that gets to do something they really love.  Hopefully this will last for many years to come, if not, I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity that I’ve been given.

I started a year & a day ago, madly wild about jewelry.  That still hasn’t changed.  When writing this blog, I spend countless hours staring at a picture & thinking "ohh sparkly". Enough with the sentimentality.  What does a princess do when celebrating a big anniversary?  She buys herself a new ring of course!
