Star Rubies

10kt Two Tone 5.15ct Star Ruby And Diamond Accent Ring

Another way to wear rubies, is a star ruby. This ruby, basically looks like there is a star inside of it, hence the name star ruby. I’ve never thought about this for a piece of birthstone jewelry, but:

  • It’s unique & will definitely get attention. I’m always afraid that my birthstone ring will look like those cheap birthstone rings that you buy in a gas station.
  • It’s a cabochon, so I don’t have to worry about the cloudy problem that most faceted rubies have.
  • Traditionally used in southwest & men’s jewelry, there are now some very elegant star ruby rings.
  • Has a very antique feel to it.
  • Affordable, you can get quite large star rubies for less than you could ever get a small, cloudy, faceted ruby.
  • Often set in two tone, or rose gold settings, which is a nice change from the traditional yellow gold settings that rubies usually come in.

Free Blue Topaz Ring

Update: This contest is now closed, check back on Monday for a new contest!

Every Monday I give away a piece of jewelry, although the contest is a little different this week than it was last week so be sure & read the rules (the changes are in bold).

I’m doing this to stop that pesky feeling of invisibility that seems to be permeating so many women’s lives. To enter all you have to do is comment on this post with a reason why humanity doesn’t suck, or a random act of kindness. You can also leave a trackback if you would like to link to the contest on your own blog, or you can just leave a link in the comments to your post.

This week’s Random Act of Bling is:

  • Sizeable 7
  • Sterling Silver Ring
  • Genuine Blue & White Topaz totaling 1.75 tcw
  • 3 Stone, past, present, future design.

The ring definitely has a lot of presence & sparkle to it. I chose this ring because hopefully it will catch the wearer’s eye on a disappointing day & they can remember that they are special & that good things do happen. Good Luck & I can’t wait to read the entries!

The Rules:

1. You must be over 18 or have your parent’s permission to give me your address. In turn, I pinky swear to not sale or spam your address.

2. Winner should live in the lower 48 states. I will pay all shipping costs.

3. One entry per person per week.

4. If you have previously won a Random Act of Bling, you can enter again, but the jewelry must be given away to a random person that you don’t know.

5. The jewelry is not to be sold. It is to remind you that you are special. Ideally, the jewelry would be given away by you to someone who looks like they need some cheering up, or needs to be seen.

6. Leave a comment, trackback, or link to a blog post. This must discuss a reason why humanity doesn’t suck, or a RAK.

7. The winner will be drawn at 6pm Mountain Time on Friday, using a random number generator.

8. I reserve the right to delete any comments that are inappropriate or edit the rules as needs be in order to keep the contest running as smoothly as possible.

Traditional but unique

I won’t lie, because I’m Sara & I speak my mind. Most diamond engagement rings look exactly the same to me. I find it ironic that an engagement ring is supposed to be an expression of love, but everyone’s seems to be exactly the same. I was looking at Handmade Engagement Rings & was shocked to see that I actually do like white diamonds.

Jogia diamonds has some very unique settings that would make for a traditional, but unique, engagement ring. The ring will definitely have the “wow factor”, because it will be something that has never been seen before. What I really love about this site is all of the information that is found there, they really want to educate their customers. This is different from a lot of jewelry stores who are just trying to make a sale, or they are trying to hide something. Plus, Jogia only uses conflict free diamonds. This means that their diamonds don’t come from mines that help fund rebel groups who are trying to overthrow governments, so your mind is at ease when you wear your ring. It is possible to have a traditional white diamond ring, that is still unique.
