This contest is now closed, check back Monday for a new Random act of Bling.

Random Acts of Bling is a contest which takes place every week that attempts to remind people that they are special & not invisible. To enter, just leave a comment on this post with a true story about how humanity doesn’t suck. Usually in order to win the contest you have to post about a random act of kindness, but this week, any comment will be entered, but if you leave something about how humanity doesn’t suck, well it’s all the better. The winner will be drawn using a random number generator at 6pm Mountain time on July 27th.

This week’s prize is a 1.80 carat genuine amethyst pendant set in .925 Sterling Silver that comes complete with a 16″ .925 sterling silver chain. This pendant is also what the professionals call “sparkly”.

The Rules:

1. You must be over 18 or have your parent’s permission to give me your address. In turn, I pinky swear to not sale or spam your address.

2. Winner should live in the lower 48 states. I will pay all shipping costs.

3. One entry per person per week.

4. If you have previously won a Random Act of Bling, you can enter again, but the jewelry must be given away to a random person that you don’t know.

5. The jewelry is not to be sold. It is to remind you that you are special. Ideally, the jewelry would be given away by you to someone who looks like they need some cheering up, or needs to be seen.

  7. How cool.

I have always been amazed by how kind people really are. I’m thinking of my neighbor who took my daughter to school one day last year, because her bus was in a wreck and my driveway was iced and I couldn’t get out AND my husband had my son’s carseat in his car. I knocked on the door at 8:30am, and they were glad to do it, and then came back and thanked ME for asking for help when I needed it, and made sure I didn’t need anything from the store, since I was homebound. Above and Beyond being neighborly. . . .

  8. Sounds nice, You can include me.

  9. Enter me please!

There is still much kindness in the world. My brother and his wife recently got new neighbors. These new neighbors mow my brother’s lawn every week out of kindness.

  10. We had just moved to Nashville and knew no one. Our car broke down on the off ramp of a major highway and it was a hot August day. As my husband and I were carrying our 3 mo daughter and 2 yo son, a woman pulled up in a van and offered us a ride.. all the way home which was about 15 mins away. She worked for AAA and called for service. After dropping me and my kids at home, she went back with my husband and waited for AAA to arrive… all with 4 of her own children in the car! I wish I could have thanked her properly. Maybe if I win, I could try and track her down with this bling. :) Please enter me in this great contest.

  26. That is a really great idea, to help people feel special. This is such a beautiful piece of jewelry, too. I love amethyst. If I won this, I would give it to a very special woman at our church who loves purple, and has recently had a miscarriage. I think she would really love something like this.

  27. that is so cool count me in!!!!

  28. I would love it! Please count me in!!
    :o )

  29. I was in a car accident in February with my two children and my mom. I was in shock and injured but my family was fine. While I sat on the curb shaking and crying a lady and two children approached me. She asked me if she could pray for me. In all of this chaos she calmed me down. As quickly as she appeared she then disappeared. To this day I still think of her as my guardian angel and her two children as my children’s guardian angels. Her name was Pricilla. How fitting that the amethyst is the birth stone of February. If I was to win this I would keep it to remind me of Pricilla and her random act of kindness. If I were to ever meet her again I would give her this pendant. I always pay forward her kindness.

  30. What a neat contest! I have a gazillion little stories…

When we were staying at the Ronald McDonald House when our son was sick, someone anon. left a gift card to a local bookstore in our mailbox. They had heard we liked to read so they wanted to treat us to a book shopping spree…there was enough for all 6 of us to get a book! What a treat that was!

  31. I have 5 beautiful kids, and they remind me every day about how humanity doesn’t suck. I’ll have to come back next week to see what you are offering then, too.

  32. Ooohhh… pretty.

    THANK YOU!

  33. I constantly do contests in hopes of winning it big one day. I’m not sure that day will come but I’d like to comment on the “RANDOM ACTS OF BLING”.

I was impressed this morning when I was watching a program on tv just this morning. It actually brought tears to my eyes. This gentleman played on a major league sports team (not even sure what sport). His little girl (who may have been about four) was very sick. He was well educated and well-spoken (which I found impressive). He made a decision to quit his career in sports at the age of 33 (I think) to insure his daughter received the care she needed to get healthy again. I praised this gentleman for putting his family first and really being a family man. He didn’t let money and fame go to his head. He stepped up to the plate and really showed his love for his family. It made me feel like this guy was a genuine person and not out for himself. He also allowed the public for the 1st time to view his beloved daughter on air. I think he really knows how to make the right choices and people will admire him for that. He mentioned that god got him where he was and god will help him through. I think people need to listen to what he is saying. I personally feel that…No matter what situation we are given, you must stay positive to see your way through it. In my situation, I’m thirty-six and lost my father three years ago. I also made a decision two years ago to care for my mother when she had a stroke. That meant leaving my husband temporarily to go to her home an hour away to be her caregiver. It has been two years. My mother hasn’t improved. I see my husband every two weeks (for only 2 days). My mother is still wheelchair bound, isn’t able to speak, and needs general assists with basic functions throughout the day. I left my career to see that my mom was taken care of and it hasn’t been an easy road but in my heart I’ve done the right thing and therefore I can sleep at night with the decisions that I’ve made. A career isn’t everything (money comes and goes). Family is always there when you need them. I find that these days we get too caught up in our own need to really identify with others. I call it detatchment. Everyone wants the best car, best house, best job, best body, best yard, etc. Has anyone really thought about when they grew up and enjoyed playing in a sand box with their friends because they were your friends. I think there is a clear picture in life and that is we need to stop pretending to lead a life of glamour and glitz. It feels really wonderful to live my life proudly (a little overweight too) with who I am (no cut, tucks or injections).I don’t need the necklace that you have offered. If I’m considered to win the necklace, please forward it to the blogger that blogs right under me. I would hope that the treasure they were seeking was sought.

    GOOD LUCK BLOGGING!

  34. Wow, what a cool idea. And the necklace is gorgeous!

  40. Among all of the reasons why humanity doesn’t suck, the fact that you’re having such a lovely contest is among them! What a lovely and thoughtful gift :) Count me in too :)

  41. Human kindness is the fact that there are 220 women signed up to give things away to people they don’t know with absolutely no strings attached!

    Blessings-
    Jenny

  42. This is my birthstone – I love the necklace. I’ve been trying to do more Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) – more specifically noticing when I do and when I am on the receiving end. There are so many ways and places to serve others and it becomes only more and more enjoyable!

  43. My parents are missionaries, and over the years we have had numerous RAOK (Random Acts, etc). We’ve had boxes of food left on our doorstep, brand new jackets for us kids, people sending money in the mail anonymously, etc. God has always provided, through the generosity of strangers.

  44. What a great give away. If I win I will give it to someone else! :-)

  45. That is a lovely prize, and I love your idea about the weekly giving. I can’t think of a specific RAOK, but I have really noticed in this world that what you give out, you always receive back in abundance. I try to live that way.
