The James Bond of Jewelry
24 July 2007I’ve noticed in this week’s “Random Acts of Bling” how excited people are to win an amethyst, especially since it’s many of your birthstones. I don’t own a lot of my birthstone, because I just plain don’t like it. I was born in July, & rubies have never spoken to me, (that’s probably good, talking gemstones just sounds a little creepy).
This month I made a goal to find peace with my birthstone. I know it’s a little thing, but I’m really into jewelry & gem collecting, so it’s always bothered me that I just don’t like it. You’ll notice that there were no follow up posts to that post. I think my problems with rubies are that:
1. They are usually set in yellow gold & I’m not a fan of yellow gold.
2. Expensive.
3. Weird red/pink color that doesn’t match a lot of other things.
Today, I saw this ruby ring, that’s convertible.
You just flip the band over & it’s a diamond cluster ring. I’ve never seen anything like this before, but I like the idea that it’s in white gold, & that it offers more options than a plain ruby ring. It makes me feel like James Bond, very secret agent, but with jewelry.
