Star Rubies
31 July 2007Another way to wear rubies, is a star ruby. This ruby, basically looks like there is a star inside of it, hence the name star ruby. I’ve never thought about this for a piece of birthstone jewelry, but:
- It’s unique & will definitely get attention. I’m always afraid that my birthstone ring will look like those cheap birthstone rings that you buy in a gas station.
- It’s a cabochon, so I don’t have to worry about the cloudy problem that most faceted rubies have.
- Traditionally used in southwest & men’s jewelry, there are now some very elegant star ruby rings.
- Has a very antique feel to it.
- Affordable, you can get quite large star rubies for less than you could ever get a small, cloudy, faceted ruby.
- Often set in two tone, or rose gold settings, which is a nice change from the traditional yellow gold settings that rubies usually come in.

Those are gorgeous, I don’t think I have seen those before. One of my daughters has the ruby birthstone, I will have to look into getting one of those, it is beautiful!
