Sterling Silver Necklace Free
6 August 2007
Update: This contest is now closed, check back on Monday for a new Random Act of Bling.
Random Acts of Bling is a weekly contest where people inspire me & in turn I give away sparkly stuff. I do this because I really feel that people need to be seen, & the more random acts of kindness, the better. Just leave a comment about a random act of kindness or a reason why humanity doesn’t suck in general. See how it’s written in bold? Very important. Mostly because these comments really pick me up & really convince me of the kindness of humans which I desperately need. Plus, I just think it’s nice to have a whole string of beautiful things about people all in one place.
The comments have included amazing stories in the past weeks. Everything from who the person would give it to if they won, or asking me to randomly give the jewelry away to the next person in line.
This week’s jewelry is a sterling silver lapis pendant & chain. The picture looks more turquoise, but this pendant is actually a pretty true blue.
If this is your first week at Random Acts of Bling, please read the rules. (They aren’t too hard, I promise). The drawing will be done with a random number generator at 6pm Mountain time on Friday.

I was in the grocery store one day doing my monthly shopping, and there was an older lady in the store just a couple of steps ahead me. She was looking at her shoe and trying to figure out someway to get her foot onto the bottom of the shopping cart to tie her shoe without falling over.
I observed her for a minute while others walked by more or less ignoring her.
I walked up to her and asked if I could tie her shoe for her. She was at first embarrassed, but I assured her that she had no need to be embarrassed, and I would be honored to tie her shoe for her.
She gave me a smile that would warm you heart and proceeded to let me tie her shoe. She thanked me and I went on around the corner.
What is odd, is that I never saw that lady in the store anywhere else and there would have been ample time to pass each other again at least once or twice more.
Either way, little things such as tying a stranger’s shoe who is having difficulty can be a blessing to them… as well as you.

my son was born prematurely and my daughter was in the nursery taking care of him while of course i was zonked out of my mind on the wonderful medicine they give you to ’sleep’–anyways, my daughter said this really old woman came into the nursery and gave all the babies little knit hats. she gave my son a pink one and i still have it to this day. something about this little pink hat (that i’ve saved of course) makes me realize there are totally special people in this world with huge hearts. i sure wish i could see that woman to give her a hug and a recent photo of my son now

I have had my tent up in the front yard for a couple of months so I can have yard sales on the less rainy and humid weekends. One lady asked me to ” hold” a dress for her until payday, I Did and when she came to pay for her dress the Bottom fell out with one Gully washer. She looked distressed as I asked her how she got to my house and she replied ” I Walked”.
I asked her to stay till the end of the storm but she refused, I offered her a ride home but she refused. Finally, I grabbed my new umbrella and said that if she refused this she would be robbing me of a blessing! She took it and returned the following weekend with a couple of other ladies to shop!

I have not been able to work for over a year. Not too long ago I started attending a church and I met a lady there named Sherry. As we talked we realized that a lot of our life experiences and heartaches were very similar. You know, that “odd” kid of similar. Well, needless to say we have become very good friends and she makes a point of coming to see me and taking me out to eat at least once a week. Sometimes I have a dime or two and I treat but not like she does. We were in a store one day and she picked up one of those prepaid cell phones with 300 minutes on it. (I didn’t have a phone at the time.) She bought the phone and gave it to me and said “Now I can call and give you warning that I am coming over and you can be prepared”. Every time she calls she says. “I don’t want to use up your minutes but I was just calling to….etc.”. Can you believe it she bought the minutes and yet she apologizes for using them. I feel so blessed to have this friend. Please give this necklace to her.
