Matching Peridot

It can be difficult to know what kind of outfit to wear with peridot. This may be why many people don’t like the August birthstone. However, peridot is more versatile than one might think. I matched the green in the following pictures to the green of peridot exactly, because I’m tech savvy. Not really, but we can pretend. Here are a few of my favorite peridot color combinations:

greenbrown.jpgBrown & Green. Think of a tree. This is a modern looking color combination that has been around for as long as nature has existed.

greenpink.jpgPink & Green. Again, think of nature. This is the color combination of a lot of flowers, & so it just works.

bluegreen.jpgBlue & Green. I know what you are thinking, again with the nature. Yup, these colors remind me of the ocean. See peridot is more versatile than you thought isn’t it?

If I can’t marry Jason Bourne

I love celebrity style, which is why this blog has a section called celebrity style. That’s a big shocker I’m sure. However, it seems whenever the celebrities are on the red carpet, all that gets talked about are their dresses. This isn’t really helpful to me because the last time I wore an evening gown was high school prom. Besides the fact that I am not a size 0 & I never plan to be that little. So the big part of celebrity style that is applicable to my everyday life are the jewelry & accessories. It just seems like the celebrities never really elaborate enough on their accessories for me to track the pieces down.

I was excited to find J.R.Dunn’s Jewelry Blog. I don’t know how J.R. does it, but this blog has all the great celebrity jewelry finds. I was surprised at how affordable some of the jewelry is. I really love John Hardy’s sterling silver jewelry because he has a line of affordable sterling silver men’s jewelry that actually looks good. I rarely see men’s jewelry that I like, but John Hardy’s line is very classy looking. One of my favorite discoveries from J.R.’s blog was this Tag Heuer Link black dial chronograph watch that Jason Bourne wears in “The Bourne Ultimatum”. If I can’t marry Jason Bourne, at least I can buy his watch.

Passing Trends

A few years ago, I absolutely had to own a buckle ring or bracelet. This was a jewelry trend where accessories were made to resemble belts. Of course, I couldn’t just buy a piece of costume jewelry. I wanted this in black diamonds. I mean it’s a ring that looks like a belt! Of course that is something that should last forever.

You’ll notice that this post is missing a picture of my black diamond belt buckle ring. That’s because I resisted & didn’t buy it. I’m so glad too because I’m so sick of seeing belt buckle jewelry. It taught me a lesson that when I buy fine jewelry, it needs to be a classic style that I will love for years go come. What jewelry trend are you glad that you passed up?
