Free Garnet Earrings
27 August 2007
Update: Entries for this contest are now closed, thanks to everyone who entered & check back on Monday for another Random Act of Bling.
I’m trying to give away a piece of jewelry each week to make my corner of the world brighter, well sparklier at least. I’ve been noticing that a lot of women feel invisible. This is my attempt to help people be seen. I would love it if the winners would give this jewelry away to a random person to brighten their day, but they are also free to keep it as long as it makes them feel special. To enter, you just have to leave a comment/pingback/link to an entry on your blog with a reason why humanity doesn’t suck. Links back to this post are appreciated but not required.
The prize this week is a pair of genuine 1.60 tcw pear cut garnet earrings, set in sterling silver.
Here are just a few things to keep in mind, (AKA, the rules):
One entry per person per week.
Contestants should live in the lower 48 states because I will be paying shipping.
If you have won a Random Act of Bling previously, you can keep entering the contest. If you win again though, you should give away the jewelry to someone completely random.
Please don’t sell the jewelry, it’s to remind you that you are special.
Contestants should be over 18.
The winner will be drawn by a random number generator.
Comments must be about a random act of kindness or other reason why humanity doesn’t suck.
Thanks to everyone who has left comments, it’s really nice to see so many good things about humanity.

I think that your premise behind these contest is a great thing. It would benefit all of us to read the random acts of kindness that others have performed. So I have started a Monday post of things I manage to do or receive during the previous week. I hope you will enjoy it:) \

I’m a NICU RN and I have the opportunity of witnessing numerous physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare workers working hard to keep premature, sick babies alive. It is such an emotionally and physically demanding specialty and it takes a truly special person to care for these precious babies. I’m honored to be part of the team.

I have recently received some troubling news about our TTC journey. There have been numerous individuals who have reached out to me during this difficult time. I thank God for them and hope to pass along the hope.

Humanity doesn’t suck because there is a God and He offers us grace!

Our town has just had a tornado and several homes were distroyed. The town has been wonderful. They started collecting items immediately for these families. I am glad to live in a town that will support you and help build you up when you are at lowest.

While I was unexpectedly admitted to the hospital, the IV team went above and beyond to care for me. I was severely dehydrated and they struggled to get my picc line in. Both were very upset about the pain and upset that they were having to put me through with 4 attempts. They stayed with me through the trip to radiology to get it dropped where it belonged. They even returned a couple times through the next few days to check my bruising, chat and see how I was holding up. I think that was two great women showing tremendous compassion when I needed it most.

I just started college and I bought all 6 of my books this morning and was struggling to carry all of them down and across the street to my dorm, when this random guy caught two of them as they fell out of my arms before taking all but one from me and then he walked me to my dorm. It was the nicest thing he could’ve done and it’s deeply appreciated. I’ll be sure to pay it forward.

I love that you are trying to make someone smile. Goes with my motto of making peoples lives easier on the web. I think.
