The Princess Rules

29 August 2007

The TV show “American Princess” got me thinking about what a princess really is. I’m not talking about royalty, but a princess in the true sense of the word. Think back to “Little Princess”, all little girls are princesses. On TV, being a princess seems to consist of being stuck up & losing all of your personality. Here is what I think the responsibilities of a princess are:

1. There’s a huge difference between a princess & a diva. Most people call themselves princesses because they are demanding. However, being a princess entails being kind & taking care of people. For your trouble, you get to wear a tiara.

2. Yes, looking elegant is one of the more fun aspects of the job. However, it’s not everything. Princesses come in all shapes & sizes, & they can even have bright pink hair if they so choose.

3. Manners are important. They are not so important that a princess should correct people or make them feel uncomfortable. Being a princess involves being gracious.

What are your princess rules?
