The free amethyst ring goes to…

The deli girl was rude to me today which is a little thing, but I noticed how it changed my outlook on the entire day. So it was refreshing to come home & reread all of the great comments on this week’s contest full of reasons why humanity doesn’t suck. There were so many different people that I wanted to win this week, so please check back on Monday & enter the new contest. I was really impressed by how many people wanted to give the ring to someone else. Thanks to everyone who left comments & brightened my day. The winner was chosen by a random number generator. The amethyst ring goes to Donna who left this comment:

Amethyst, a forgiving stone… a healing stone… something I’ve learned about in the past couple of years. Its become one of the colors I look for in a lot of ways and for a lot of reasons. I’ve been forgiven and am in the process of healing. I will be healing for a long long time. But the forgiveness has already come. From my family, my ex-husband (we are back together, but not married), friends and soon from me. I don’t really wear much jewelry, a gold band on my right hand, the occasional necklace, bracelet, maybe even an anklet…. but I always, always wear earrings. I started studying about stones, candles, essential oils and the like, about a year ago. I have always liked the ‘natural’ things in life. Cotton clothes, fire when I’m cold, barefoot afternoons, sleeping when I’m tired, earth colors. The random act of kindness I want to share here about is one regarding my AA sponsor. She isn’t one of those die-hard, call me everyday, book thumper and thats just the kind of help I really needed. I’m not very disciplined, never have been, so this calling everyday bull wasnt gonna work. I am now just over two years sober, and its her (maybe not so) random act. She was friends with my first sponsor, and when the first one disappeared, she stepped in to cover me. I thank her for helping me through the worst days, the near misses, and the good days too. If I should get this ring, I will give it to her. She saved my life. I’d like to let her know that she is someone who, to me, is very special… never invisible-even when we dont get to see each other at meetings, or talk on the phone. We both know each other is there for the other one. It is possible to come back into the world and become a working thriving part of society. Thank you Candy, for helping another “one” to see this. Hugs and have a great week! Donna

Gilmore Girls Engagement Ring

shrinerring.jpgYes, I’m still thinking & blogging about “Gilmore Girls”. More specifically I was remembering the ring that Zach proposed to Lane with. I think it was a Shriner Ring. Since I’m still having “Gilmore Girls” withdrawals, I thought that I should look up the ring. I couldn’t find the exact ring, I just know that it was very rock & roll. I was impressed with the selection of these rings, & I think that they would make a unique engagement ring or even a wedding band for a guy. It’s good enough for the Gilmore Girls after all.

Free Amethyst Ring

amethystring1.jpg

Update: This contest is now closed.  A new contest will start on Monday so please check back then or add me to your feed reader.  Be sure & check out the comments on this post, there are lots of reasons why humanity doesn’t suck.

One of the greatest disappointments I’ve had in life was finding out that being grown up wasn’t the way that Barbie made it look. Work was just that, work. Plus, I have never once had the chance to drive a pink car. It just all seemed so blah.

Every week I give away a piece of jewelry to try & combat this. Hopefully whoever receives this will feel special. The winner can also give this piece away to someone at random. To enter the contest, just read the rules & leave a comment, trackback or link to a post on your blog with a reason why humanity doesn’t suck. This could be a random act of kindness. If you want to give this piece away tells us about who you would like to give it to. The winner will be drawn by a random number generator at 6pm Mountain Time on Friday.

This week’s Random Act of Bling is a genuine amethyst size 7 ring set in sterling silver. The amethyst is .90 carats & is round cut.

The rules are:

One entry per person per week.

Contestant should be over 18 & live in the lower 48 States because I’ll be paying shipping. I won’t sell your address. It will be used solely to send the piece of jewelry.

Links back to me, or stumbling this article isn’t required, but it’s greatly appreciated.

If you’ve already won a Random Act of Bling, you can still enter the contest but if you win you must give the jewelry away to someone at random.

This jewelry was chosen with the intent that it would make whoever wore it feel special & less invisible. As such, please don’t sell it.

The comment/trackback/or link to your blog post should be about a Random Act of Kindness, reason why humanity doesn’t suck or who you will give this piece of jewelry to.
