Free Sterling Silver Bracelet

Update: This week’s random act of bling is a free peridot ring. The sterling silver bracelet contest is now closed.

I’ll admit it, my favorite person is Sarakastic. She’s just so funny, smart & humble. This mentality could lead to me being well, selfish. I’m trying to combat against that. I have a chronic illness but I’m happy with my life. However, because of this I haven’t been able to make the impact on people that I thought I would. I always thought I would save the world, or join the Peace Corps. Instead, I found myself in a situation where just wearing shoes seemed like a monumental task.

I’ve had to create my own ways of trying to brighten the world & make a difference. I started a weekly “Random Acts of Bling” to remind people that they are special. Hopefully, the jewelry is something that they can look at during difficult times & remind themselves that good things can randomly happen. To enter the contest, just leave a comment/trackback/or link to a post on your blog on this post with a reason why humanity doesn’t suck, or a random act of kindness. If you win, you can keep the jewelry for yourself, or randomly give it away to someone else to brighten their day. One thing that my illness has taught me is that life is hard, & there are many people who silently suffer or feel invisible.

Honestly, my random act of kindness this week is not keeping this bracelet for myself :P It’s just so sparkly & unique. The prize this week is a sterling silver bracelet in a vintage style. This bracelet is for someone with tiny wrists measuring at 6″ 1/4. You could probably easily get a bracelet extender for this.

The rules are:

One entry per week.

Contestant should be over 18 years old & should be ok with giving me their home address, I promise not to sell it or do anything else icky with it.

I will pay shipping so please live in the lower 48 states.

If you’ve already won a Random Act of Bling, you can enter the contest again but if you win again you must give the prize away to someone random.

The winner will be chosen by a random number generator at 6pm Mountain Time on Friday.

Links back to this site are appreciated but not required.

Please don’t sell the jewelry, it’s to make you or whoever you give it away to feel special.

Comment/trackback must be about a reason why humanity doesn’t suck or a random act of kindness.

My recent Random Act of Kindness Story:

I am 25 and my husband is 34, and we have been married 3 years. Shortly after we were married, he started getting very sick, throwing up every morning, having terrible migraines, gaining a lot of weight, etc. We found out it was caused by a brain tumor in his pineal gland- and though it isn’t supposed to be fatal, there isn’t anything that can be done about it. I am usually with him 24/7 except when I’m not able to take internet college courses and have to go to class. Last week I went to work at my grandma’s sandwich shop so her manager could go on vacay and so my grandma wouldn’t have to work the long hours. My husband was feeling alright, so he decided to surprise me while I was gone and get all the shopping done. While he was in the store parking lot loading the groceries, he got overheated (which happens very easily) and started getting really sick. He was bright red, sweating, and stumbling- and everyone just gave him disgusted looks like he was crazy or drunk. Then a man came out of the store, dropped his groceries on the ground, and and instantly rushed to his side. He helped him inside the store, bought him a bottled water, called me and sat with him until I got there. In addition to his random act of kindness to my husband, he is also a volunteer fire fighter- and I don’t know what would have happened if he wouldn’t have been there.

I have to say “our” random act of kindness seems to be an ongoing thing, but my husband and I are both attorneys and it seems like we come across people every week that just need “some help” and it is SO nice to be able to use our skills to give them some guidance.

I would like to win this for my mom. She is my hero. She was abused by my father and lost everything fighting for us in court when we were younger. Even though she had nothing she still tries to help others that are in need. If she sees a stray animal that is hungry, she will search till she finds something to give it. She is always kind to everyone even though life has not been kind to her. I love her with all my heart, Tara

Random acts of kindness is so wonderful!! I work in an Autistic/ED School and I see this everyday with every one of us Workers there. We’re touching lives by changing hearts and minds.

Humans are innovative, inquisitive and hardy survivors. We know more about the world then we ever did in the days of the Romans. And society itself has advanced (somewhat) beyond cruel practices like slavery. If things keep going in this direction, we very well may end up in a sort of Star Trek Utopia.
