ELF: Eyes, Lips, Face
17 September 2007I heard about a high end brand of makeup called “ELF” or eyeslipsface.com that was only $1. It was featured on Oprah & in several fashion magazines. Of course, I had to give this a shot, so I ordered about 40 different items from their website.
I think the “high end” part stems from the fact that there were rumors floating around that this was going to be the makeup line for department stores in the mall. The store varies depending on the rumor. It sure would be nice to buy makeup for $1 in the mall. This is the line that Target sells. If I would have known that I would have just bought it at Target.
So I ordered tons of makeup & received a package in a timely manner. However, a few items weren’t included because they were out of stock . Instead, I got a refund on my credit card. Here was my experience with the products:
- Bronzer: This was the first bronzer I’ve seen that is actually a little metallic. I felt like I was a bit too shiny, like an Emmy statue, so I probably won’t use this much.
- Face powder: I got one of the lighter colors & it was much too orange, but that might have been my fault for choosing the wrong color.
- Mascara & eyeliner: I don’t know which of these is the culprit. However, a few minutes after putting this on, I looked in the mirror. My eyes must have gotten teary over one of those darn hallmark commercials because I had black rivers running down my face, which wasn’t the look that I was going for. The mascara was two sided so there were choices for both waterproof & non waterproof but I haven’t been brave enough to use this again.
- Eyeshadows: ELF had a great selection of colors at a fantastic price. The only downside is that the eyeshadows were a little more difficult to get off than my usual makeup. I’ve never heard of long lasting eyeshadow before, but this might be it.
- Various Brushes: To me this is the best deal at ELF, you can get really great brushes really inexpensively.
Overall, I would probably buy eyeshadows & brushes from ELF again. I thought that their site was really easy to use & I loved the makeup tips. I would probably just go through Target next time I shop. It was fun to just get a big box of makeup & be able to experiment, it was like being 12 years old again & really brought the fun back into wearing cosmetics.
