Free Jewelry: Mother of pearl necklace
29 October 2007Update: This contest is now closed check back on Monday for a new random act of bling.
Every week I give away a piece of sterling silver jewelry at random because the average person doesn’t usually receive the appreciation they deserve. I call it Random Acts of Bling. Usually people leave comments about random acts of kindness, or someone they would give the jewelry to, or just good things about humanity in general. Since I’m part of the Fall Y’all giveaway & I know that there are so many giveaways to visit, just leave a comment this week. Although, it would be neato if the comment contained a random act of kindness.
The prize is a sterling silver pendant with a 16″ sterling box chain. It’s a pea in the pod style with black mother of pearl.
Be sure to check back next week for another Random Act of Bling!
Here are the rules:
One entry per person per week.
Winner will be drawn by a random number generator at 6pm mountain time on Friday.
Please be over 18 & live in the lower 48 states as I’ll be paying shipping.
If you’ve already won a Random Act of Bling, you can win again but please give the second of piece of jewelry away. Also, please don’t sell this jewelry. It’s intended to remind you or whoever receives it that they are special.
Stumbles & links back to this post are appreciated but not required.

DH and I do a random act of kindness by raking our elderly neighbors leaves once they leave;). We leave a potted plant on their doorstep with a gift card to Walmart tucked inside the elephant and always put a card that says- Sorry we missed you. Ed and Dora (or or short hand for Next Door Neighbor);)

This past Friday, one of the local farmers stopped by to give us a crafte of tomatoes that he had his migrant workers pick for us. He usually just has us to come out the fields to pick but he new this week was crazy and he wanted to get us tomatoes before our first frost hit (which was this morning)

Oh, my random act of kindness is so fun. For me. I have just finished a baby quilt for a totally unsuspecting young mama who I barely know. I jsut want to bless her socks off. Why? Because someone did it for me when I was a new mama, many, many years ago.
Thanks for including my name in the drawing. Such a beautiful necklace.

I love that “random acts of bling” idea! That must make you happy to give things away every week. Today I’m taking large amounts of Halloween cookies to neighbors and friends. The kids and I made SO MANY cookies last night, and if they stay here, they will ALL end up in my mouth. So, we’ll be giving those away post haste.
And thanks for stopping by and entering my drawing!

I love your Random acts of bling. I try to do little random acts of kindness on a daily basis. Even if it is simply holding the door for a mom with a big stroller. I am teaching my 3 year old to be a “gentlemen” and hold the door, shake hands and greet people with a smile. Kindness goes a long way.

My daughter (and I) were receipients of what I’m calling a random act of kindness this week. We met up with some of her little friends (all age 2) at a local farm, but 4 elementary schools happened to be there at the same one. There was a little village to play in, but our little ones were overwhelmed by the big kids running all over the place. One boy (I’d guess about age 7) was so great with my daughter, he tried to understand everything she said, played pretend with her, and even protected her from the other kids. I tried to find his teacher to let her know how nice he had been, but couldn’t figure out which were the teachers from his school. After writing this out, I think I might send a note to his school. I think his parents would like to know what a wonderful child they are raising.

I’m a big believer in randowm acts of kindness, I think something as simple as a smile or a compliment has the power to change someone’s outlook, and in turn, the world.
Every Christmas, no matter how hard up we are, we buy ten $5 Starbucks gift cards. I take five and my husband takes five, and we put them in cards with a handwritten message saying “just a simple gift from one stranger to another, no strings attached. Merry Christmas.” And we hand them out as we go about our business. We don’t necessarily give them to people who look poor or otherwise miserable, we just hand them to people we feel driven to connect with, be it the lady at the deli counter, or the well dressed man with a scowl and a basket of tomatoes. It’s amazing to see the effect these cards have on people.
Beautiful necklace, I have to admit that if I win I will be keeping it! LOL

Beautiful necklace!
On our way home from a road trip this past summer my transmission went out. A very kind gentleman, who looked like Hell’s Angel, stopped and helped me get to the nearest town and made sure we had someone to come and get us before he took off. He was definitely an angel in disguise because I was traveling alone with my seven children! We learned that day not to judge others by their looks.

My husband, Snuggle Bug, and I were at church and after mass the woman in front of us (we’ve seen her before) turned to me and handed me a small box. Inside was a necklace and earring set that she had made. She said she wanted me to have them, just because! Her random act of kindness totally made my day!

They stayed there for a while visiting with her and she gave them each a cookie. Maybe that’s why they really wanted to go over to her house.

A chance to brag a little on my son and win a prize too. Lucky me! We have an elderly neighbor that refuses to let anyone help her. This really bugged my son (a Star Boy Scout) so he started watching her and noticed that every wednesday she ran her errands and went grocery shopping. He now shows up at her house every wednesday about the time she gets home, and carries in all her groceries for her. She “pays” him by giving him a homemade cookie every week. This was not something we asked him to do, just something he wanted to do. This mom is proud of her little boy!
on October 30th, 2007 at 12:45 pm
This is fabulous, please count me in, Thanks!!!
One thing that I like to do is make larger quantities of soup or stew than we need, then take it to one of my son’s teachers or a neighbor on a day when I know they will be too busy to cook that night. It saves them the time and trouble of cooking late, eating out, and it is healthy!

While DH and I were traveling to Chicago last Christmas, we encountered a Grandpa and his young grandson during a ‘pit stop’ who had some serious mechanical trouble on their run down truck. Unfortunately Grandpa spent his last few dollars on the costly repair. While we were fueling up,Grandpa asked us if we could lend him $20 for some gas to make it home and asked for our home address to pay us back. Hubby didn’t give him cash, instead he used his credit card to give him a full tank.,, he didn’t give him our address either.

More than once I just gave $$$ to 2 different friends that were going through a hard time.
Not too much, enough maybe for half month at the grocery store, but that may have helped.
I tried to do that without embarrassing them.
I love your necklace, really special.

What a beautiful necklace! And I absolutely LOVE your idea of random acts of bling!
A random act of kindness carnival would be inspiring to see! :0

That is so pretty. I love sterling silver.
What a neat idea to tie your giveaways to RAKs.
I agree with the above poster, a RAK carnival would be fun.

“Random acts of bling” I love that! A random act of kindness: this morning I was at the grocery store and an older woman who was working was picking up some boxes of cereal that had been knocked off the shelf. I stopped to help her and she thanked me.
on October 31st, 2007 at 10:03 am
Wow, I’m impressed with what you do!
I don’t have a random act about myself, but I do about my four year old son.
I’m usually the last one to sit at the table to have dinner. Last week my son took my plate from the kitchen counter before I could and placed it on the table for me….awww cutest thing.
Thanks for the opportunity.

My husband is the King of Kindness and thoughtfulness. He sends out birthday cards to all our family members and acquaintances. Many people wait just for his card in the mail because it very well may be the only card they receive. I love him to pieces!

My mom had a pretty major surgery today and will likely be feeling down for a while. I’d like to win it for her. You know, “mother of pearl” for my mother. She’ll be off work and bedfast for 4-6 weeks, so this would give her something pretty to look at to remind her that she’s still pretty and still a woman.
