Free orange pearl earrings
2 June 2008
Update: This contest is now closed. Never fear, a new one will start on Monday.
I was watching this show about the running of the brides last night. Apparently, all these women gather for a semi annual sale at a wedding dress shop in Boston. They then proceed to run, grab, hit, trample & steal to get a handful of dresses to try on. I’ve never been a bride, but I find this truly frightening. A rack of dresses fell on one woman & no one really stopped to help her. I love shopping as much as the next person & I admire the bravery of those who attempt it, but I’d rather run with the bulls than with the brides. It just struck me how far a little kindness would go in such a situation. Instead, people seemed to be proud of how much hair they pulled.
In my own little way of spreading joy & happiness to the world I give away a piece of jewelry every week. The winner can either keep it, or pass it on to someone else. To enter the contest just read the rules & then leave a comment with a random act of kindness or who you would give this to & why. We always hear the bad stuff about people, but this is a chance to share the good things & encourage other people.
The prize this week are a pair of bright freshwater pearl earrings set in sterling silver. Pearl is the birthstone for June.
The Rules:
One entry per person per week.
Please don’t sell the jewelry, it’s to make whoever receives it feel special. Winner will be chosen by a random number generator at 6pm on Friday Mountain Time.
Contestants should be over 18 & live in the lower 48 states because I’ll be paying shipping. I won’t sell or abuse your mailing address. If you’ve already won a Random Act of Bling, you can win again, but please give the jewelry away at random.
If you want to link or stumble this post it would be appreciated but is not required.
Comment/trackback/link should be about a random act of kindness or who you would give this jewelry to & why.

I think I would keep them because they are really beautiful and completely my style.
Yesterday I helped a friend move. This afternoon I have two students coming over. I invited them to come cuddle the week old puppies I’m fostering, but mainly because one of them was having a stressful week and I knew it would cheer her up.

Evening, I have seen that show about those wedding dresses! Even though I am not rich, I would not have gone through that for my wedding dress. This week, if
I would be fortunate to win your lovely earrings, I would say “Happy 22nd Wedding Anniversary” Cindi!
My doctor took me weaned me off of hormones and my body is going crazy. Mentally, physically, etc.
Sometimes, it is actually scary. Depression and crying at the drop of a pin is normal right now. My husband and two sons are trying to understand!
I will get through this. Thanks, Cindi

A random act of kindness that blesses us tremendously - we once received $1000 cash from an anonymous person who felt compelled to give us the money. It came at a time when we needed it badly.
Thank you for this site - I love everything about what you do here.

This week my random act of kindness was buying my neighbor a meat thermometer…she doesn’t know the basics of oooking, but sincerely tries…and gratefully accepted my ‘gift’.Can you imagine cooking a small pork tenderloin for 3 gours on TOP of the stove? Alas!with a little advice and a handy little tool, she’ll come around. She’s no Rachel Ray, nor has those expectations… She just wants her family to enjoy a meal more often. Hope I helped.
This random act of kindness thing can be catchy!

I just found this wonderful site. I have been living with my mother for the past 4 1/2 yrs.ago because I could no longer work, fibromyalgia. She retired just over a yr ago and has become more depressed as the time passes. She is in a lot of pain also. I think she has fibromyalgia too. I would like to give the earrings to her should I win. I hope to return week after week and share an act of kindness that this site has prompted.
