Tigereye Pendant Contest

tigereyeamethyst.jpg

Update:  This contest is now closed but a new one will start Monday.

If I had a superpower, it would probably be worrying. If there was some kind of Olympics for stressing out, I would take the gold medal. Sometimes I just need to be reminded that although things seem bad, they can get better. That’s why I started random acts of bling, where I give away a piece of jewelry every week at random. Hopefully, it will brighten someone’s day.

The winner can either keep the pendant or give it away to someone else. Entering the contest is easy, just read the rules then leave a comment with who you would this to & why, or a random act of kindness.

The prize this week is an approx. 44 carat genuine tiger eye pendant with amethyst accent. The pendant comes with a 16 inch sterling chain & measures 1 & 5/8″

The Rules:

One entry per person per week.

Please don’t sell the jewelry, it’s to make whoever receives it feel special. Winner will be chosen by a random number generator at 6pm on Friday Mountain Time.

Contestants should be over 18 & live in the lower 48 states because I’ll be paying shipping. I won’t sell or abuse your mailing address. If you’ve already won a Random Act of Bling, you can win again, but please give the jewelry away at random.

If you want to link or stumble this post it would be appreciated but is not required.

Comment/trackback/link should be about a random act of kindness or who you would give this jewelry to & why.

Diamond Accent Earrings Winner

The random number generator has spoken. It chose Cynthia to win with her comment:

If I had the chance to, I would definitely give these to my mom. My mom is my best friend and has been there for my husband and I from the very beginning. Over the past year and a half, I got sick and had to quit working. I have no income coming in, my husband has two jobs, and my mother is disabled also. Money is so very tight right now (our car was reposessed amongst other bad things) but my mom helps us to get through it all but helping out in her little ways, $20 here, a meal there, even if it’s buying us a $1 lottery ticket to get our hopes up! We’ll all play board games together, or play the online bingo game too, just to “entertain ourselves” for free. My mom is always coming up with new ways for all of us to have fun with no to low funds, and helps us to get over these rough patches when she herself is going through some of her own. She’s so strong, and resilient, and I have learned more from her than she’ll ever know or realize. She’s a beautiful person who deserves such beautiful earrings like these. We also have no money for Christmas gifts this year, and these would definitely be a Christmas gift for her that would totally make her cry! Ha! I know she would love them. When I worked before, my sister and I went in on a diamond tennis bracelet, the most expensive piece of jewelry any of us ever bought! But someone stole this bracelet and my mother’s heart was broken ever since. It would be nice to have her be able to wear something that makes her proud when she takes the bus on a day trip to Atlantic City. Thank you:)

I hope your mom enjoys these earrings. Thanks to everyone who entered & check back for a new contest on Monday.

Pros & cons of thrift store shopping

Desperate times call for desperate measures. With the economy the way it is seems like everyone is trying to save money from auto insurance quotes to shopping at thrift stores. I actually love thrift stores & if Rachel Zoe can wear vintage clothes, so can I. Here are just a few of the Pros & cons of thrift store shopping.

Pros:

It’s definitely cheaper than shopping at a department store.

You will find unique pieces that no one else has.

There are often great brand names that I’d never be able to afford in the mall.

Cons:

Items might be damaged or need repair.

You have to sort through a ton of clothes.

There isn’t a choice of sizes.

I’d definitely rather shop at Susies Deals which has new clothing for $5.99 or less. (It’s pretty much my favorite place in the entire world.) However, I have found some really nice leather purses at the thrift store.
