I was really dreading Christmas shopping this year. My budget is tight & I have a lot of things going on in my personal life. I usually love it, but this year everyone on my list seemed especially difficult to shop for. I usually have to drive an hour & a half to go to the mall. Then, I am at the mall with all of the crowds. I have to brave this trek in the ice & snow two or three times just to get the shopping done.
Instead, this year I wandered into a new gift boutique in my town. It was like heaven. They had everything except for the kitchen sink & matching bar faucets. The prices were reasonable, the atmosphere was great & they had a larger book section than most stores. Plus, I get to support my hometown.
Two hours later, I emerged triumphant, with all the gifts, having spent 1/5 of what I usually do. I’m a little worried of what the recipients will think of their presents, it’s really different from what I usually give & spend. The upside is that everything is handcrafted so I won’t be giving the same presents as everyone else. At least it’s done.
