Broken tradition

Every year at Christmas I buy myself a piece of jewelry. Well, I usually do this a few weeks before Christmas but I don’t allow myself to look at it until the 26th. This somehow helps keep me sane through the holidays. I know that I have a reward waiting for me at the end.

For whatever reason, I forgot this year. I just couldn’t find anything that I had to have. At least I couldn’t find anything that I had to have that I could actually afford. Granted one of my goals is to own so much jewelry that I have to increase my home insurance. Although it’s a broken tradition I think it shows that I enjoyed the holidays this year & that I don’t need more material possessions to be happy. Although, sparkly things always make life seem better. Saving money just seemed more important this year. Now I know why everyone is so concerned about consumer confidence dropping.

Free Sterling Earrings Contest

Update:  This contest is now closed thanks to all that entered a new one will start on Monday.  The random number generator chose S to win.

I’ve been trying to think what was the biggest random act of kindness that I witnessed this holiday season. It was probably my nephew offering to give away his favorite new toy to his brother who really wanted it. What was the biggest raok you saw this holiday season?

I give away jewelry at random to make people feel special & hopefully give them a little pick me up. The winner is free to keep the bling or pass it on to someone else.

Entering the contest is easy just read the rules & then leave a comment with who you would give it to & why or a random act of kindness. The prize this week is a pair of sterling silver fishhook style earrings.

The Rules:

Please don’t sell the jewelry, it’s to make whoever receives it feel special. Winner will be chosen by a random number
generator at 6pm on Friday Mountain Time.

The Rules:

Contestants should be over 18 & live in the lower 48 states because I’ll be paying shipping. I won’t sell or abuse your mailing address.

If you’ve already won a Random Act of Bling, you can win again, but please give the jewelry away at random.

Please leave a valid e-mail address, this is how I will contact you if you win. If I can’t reach you then I might have to relist your prize.

If you want to link or stumble this post it would be appreciated but is not required.

Comment/trackback/link should be about a random act of kindness or who you would give this jewelry to & why.

Taking bling a little too far

I tuned into Wife Swap last night a few minutes late. I watch the show to see how other people live their lives. Sometimes piraes will trade moms with accountants. The show is all about finding balance & following your dreams. The show usually has me looking for a small business for sale or thinking that anything is possible.

Last night, I saw this beautiful, elderly, southern woman dressed in a puffy 80′s wedding dress. Apparently, she throws tea parties. They are very elaborate. The mom that swapped lives with her was a weight lifting coach. Her rule was that the husband had to plan a tea party so he could see all of the effort his wife put into it. I guess that planning elaborate tea parties is a lot of work, but I don’t know exactly why she was doing it. I guess everyone wants an excuse to dress up & feel important.
