Toe Ring Contest

Contest is closed but a new one starts on Monday!
It’s so easy to get caught up in how dreary life is. They really should just call the nightly news, bad news. Every week I run a contest to give away a piece of jewelry at random to be a small part of good news. The winner is free to keep it or pass it on to someone else. The contest is easy to enter just leave a comment who with you would give this to & why or a random act of kindness.
The prize this week is a sterling silver toe ring with a scrolling heart design.
The Rules:
Please don’t sell the jewelry, it’s to make whoever receives it feel special. Winner will be chosen by a random number generator at 6pm on Friday Mountain Time.
Contestants should be over 18 & live in the lower 48 states because I’ll be paying shipping. I won’t sell or abuse your mailing address.
If you’ve already won a Random Act of Bling, you can win again, but please give the jewelry away at random.
Please leave a valid e-mail address, this is how I will contact you if you win. The subject line of the email will say something like “Random Acts of Bling: You Won” I’ll also announce the winner in a blog post. If I can’t reach you then I might have to relist your prize.
If you want to link or stumble this post it would be appreciated but is not required.
Comment/trackback/link should be about a random act of kindness or who you would give this jewelry to & why.

I would give this to my sister. When we were kids we both picked out toe rings at the store one day and have since kept them on to as a reminder of each other and how close we are. This would be a great update to her very old one.

I would give this to my niece because she is the sweetest person I know. She is always doing random acts of kindness for everyone even though she lives on the other side of the states.

I would give this to my daughter because she just got the top of her foot tattooed last summer and I think it would go good with it.

I don’t want to enter to win this, but I would like to leave you a little message:
I have this friend I was hanging around with and he was just being so disrespectful to, just about everyone we walked by. He was cracking jokes about girls weight, the way people were dressed, and just how some people looked. I, myself, can NOT stand this kind of behavior. I cant. I think everyone knows how it feels to walk by someone and hear someone whisper something to the other person. So first he said something about this one girls weight, and I let it go and didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to start anything. Then he started talking about another girl’s clothing who walked by us, and he kept doing it. I could not take it I turned around to him and told him “if you want to be so disrespectful to all these women, why don’t you tell me whats wrong with me?” then I asked him if he wanted me to point out some things about him. He didn’t know how to respond so I just walked away and left him speechless standing there.
Why cant everyone just respect peoples strengths, we all have weaknesses, so shouldn’t we be bringing out the good things?

This would be for my aunt - she always has her toes done & has a unique collection of toe rings. She is one of the most generous people I know & always helping out in ways far beyond your expectation.

I give this to a student of mine… she has been working really hard this semester. She just made her sister’s wedding dress (along with doing a lot of the other work for her sister’s wedding) and was not included in the actual ceremony, which really hurt her feelings. I would find a way to leave this for her so that she would find it and feel good about herself.

I don’t have any recent random acts of kindness to comment about, so I will tell you about something that happened a few years ago.
My middle son (Kenneth) was 9 years old at the time and had received a gift card to Toys R Us and $20 for a birthday present from his grandmother. I took him and my other two children to Toys R Us and somehow Kenneth rushes up to me crying and saying he lost his $20 bill. We backtracked his movements all over the store and back to the car and did not find it. As a last resort, we went to the customer service counter and told the lady what had happened. She took down my name and number and we went back home.
Around 9 pm that night the phone rang and it was the manager from Toys R Us, it seems that a customer found my son’s $20 bill and turned it in to customer service. I could not believe it! I had thought for sure that it was long gone and my son would have to learn a hard lesson about taking care of his valuables. We went up to the store the next morning and I expressed my gratitude (so did Kenneth) and my surprise that someone would turn in cash. The manager told me that it was not the first time that had happened and that the person that turned it in figured that it was probably a child that had lost the money and had to at least try to return it to the rightful owner.
I wish that person had left their name and number so I could call them and thank them. It kind of restored my faith in people and that there are kind and decent folks out there, we just don’t always see them.
