Brian Williams from the Nightly News asked viewers to send in good news. I guess he’s gotten a lot of emails lately asking for a break from the really dreary news. It’s not about denying our country’s many problems, it’s more about giving people hope. One viewer requested that the newscast begin & end with good news. In response they will start airing a few segments about acts of kindness or “good people who are doing good things.”
I try to do the same thing every week by randomly giving away a piece of jewelry to make someone feel special. It’s a small thing that will hopefully make someone smile. The winner can keep it, or give it to someone else.The contest is easy to enter, just read the rules first. Make sure that your comment is about who you would give the jewelry to & why or a random act of kindness.
The prize this week are green amethyst (also known as prasiolite) earrings. These are set in sterling silver in a vintage style design.
The Rules:
Please don’t sell the jewelry, it’s to make whoever receives it feel special. Winner will be chosen by a random number generator at 6pm on Friday Mountain Time.
Contestants should be over 18 & live in the lower 48 states because I’ll be paying shipping. I won’t sell or abuse your mailing address.
If you’ve already won a Random Act of Bling, you can win again, but please give the jewelry away at random.
Please leave a valid e-mail address, this is how I will contact you if you win. The subject line of the email will say something like “Random Acts of Bling: You Won” I’ll also announce the winner in a blog post. If I can’t reach you then I might have to relist your prize.

I am acquainted with a very nice lady. She and her daughters are all wonderful, hardworking people. One of her daughters is graduating this spring, and although I don’t really know her well, I’d really like to surprise her with a lovely gift.

I love green amethyst, it is gorgeous, so if i won this, I would keep it for myself. I recently started doing community service for my library in my town, it makes me feel so good to be able to do something for my community, to know im doing something helpful for everyone. (and yes, you all should be volunteering in your town too!) I am always trying to keep myself busy by helping around my town whether its service, or just walking down the beach and picking up trash, every little bit helps!!

Oh, those are beautiful! I have just started directing a play at my university. I would love to give these to the young woman who is stage managing my show at the end of the production, as a thank you for keeping me sane!

I have the perfect person to give them to. I work in a nursing ome. One of my residents loves to see what pair of earrings I’ll wear each day. I have quite a large collection of my own. I would bring those in for her. She has no family and this would make her so happy.

The earrings are just gorgous, I love prasiolite! I have several necklaces but no earrings. I guess I’d like to win them because I’ve had a bad 6 weeks. My husband of 20 years just left me for a woman half my age, he has decided that he wants children and I can’t have them. He knew that when he married me but, oh well…

well i would love to win the jewelry.If i could give the jewelry to anyone in the world I would give it to my mom.when we where younger she would struggle to provide for my family and she was a single mother .It was very hard for her .

I would give them to my wife of 34 years. She has always been there for me and our three sons. For richer or poorer, through sickness and health she is still here. She is somebody very special to me.
