I bought a cowboy hat a few weeks ago even though I’m not a cowboy or cowgirl. It seemed like a fashionable way to go hiking. I try to protect myself from the sun, and use sun screen, eye cream and hats. I thought it would be one of those purchases that I never used. I decided to take the hat for a test drive, making sure that my outfit wasn’t too cowgirlish. I think that cowgirls are cute but they are also capable human beings who know what to do if a mountain lion attacks. I didn’t want to be looked to in a tricky situation & say “Oh I just bought the hat two days ago. It’s an illusion.” I thought that the hat would make me look friendlier, but less people approached me than usual. Also, I had forgotten to take into account that the hat uses more room than a baseball cap so I can’t tilt my head back and rest it against the car seat. I’ll try it again, but I feel like an imposter.
