Pastel Pearl Earrings Contest

This contest is closed but a new one starts on Monday!

I was having a bad day. I was in a bad mood. Nothing was going to fix it. Then someone made me laugh about something and life seemed a whole lot better even though I had the same set of problems. Along the same lines I give away a piece of jewelry every week to brighten someone’s day at random. The winner can keep the jewelry or pass it on to someone else. To enter the contest just read the rules and leave a commment with who you would give this to & why or a random act of kindness.

The prize this week are pastel pearl earrlings. The pearls are shades of white, lavender and periwinkle even though my camera washed them out.

The Rules:

Please don’t sell the jewelry, it’s to make whoever receives it feel special. The winner will be chosen by a random number
generator at 6pm on Friday Mountain Time.

Contestants should be over 18 & live in the lower 48 states because I’ll be paying shipping. I won’t sell or abuse your
mailing address.

If you’ve already won a Random Act of Bling, you can win again, but please give the jewelry away at random.

Please leave a valid e-mail address, this is how I will contact you if you win. The subject line of the email will say something like
“Random Acts of Bling: You Won” I’ll also announce the winner in a blog post. If I can’t reach you then I might

have to relist your prize.

If you want to link or stumble this post it would be appreciated but is not required.

Comment/trackback/link should be about a random act of kindness or who you would give this jewelry to & why.

Lapis Bracelet Contest

Update: This contest is closed but a new one starts on Monday. The random number generator chose Sondra as the winner.

Lately I’ve been running across people who are really good at their jobs: cashiers, maintenance guys. I really appreciate it because I would hate having to deal with so many people in a day and they certainly don’t get the thanks or the pay they deserve. So I’ve been trying to make a habit to leave a note for their boss letting them know they are doing a good job and deserve a raise. It makes thankless work a little less thankless. I’ve worked such jobs before and I know how emotionally/mentally/psychically taxing they are. In this same vein I give away jewelry every week. The winner can keep it or pass it on. The point is to remind people that they are special. To enter the contest just read the rules and then leave a comment with who you would give this to and why or a random act of kindness.

The prize this week is 7-8″ sterling lapis bracelet.

The Word Romantic

I’ve always thought that I’d like to dress in a romantic style like the women running through the wheat fields in magazine ads and perfume commercials. I made it a goal that someday I would take my romantic dresses up to the barcode scanners and have a whole new life. Whenever I tried on the dresses I just felt silly and about 4 years old.

I was watching Project Runway and Heidi was saying that she’d never wear Sweet Pea’s clothes but there is a huge market for women who like romantic clothes. I realized that “romantic” never means sexy. It means ruffles and lace and bows and pastel colors. It’s almost cutesy and not really what I want to be. However, if I find myself in a wheat field I’ll run through it.
