Oak Leaf Pendant Giveaway

This contest is over but a new one starts on Monday.

Since I forgot to start this contest yesterday I’ll leave it open until Saturday night. Every week I give away a piece of jewelry to someone at random. The winner can keep the jewelry for themselves or pass it on to someone else. The idea is to inspire people in some small way to help others feel special and recognize their own importance. To enter the contest read the rules and then just leave a comment with who you would give this to and why or a random act of kindness.

The prize this week is a sterling silver leaf pendant with chain.

The Rules:

Please don’t sell the jewelry, it’s to make whoever receives it feel special. The winner will be chosen by a random number generator at 6pm on Friday Mountain Time.

Contestants should be over 18 & live in the lower 48 states because I’ll be paying shipping. I won’t sell or abuse your mailing address.

If you’ve already won a Random Act of Bling, you can win again, but please give the jewelry away at random.

Please leave a valid e-mail address, this is how I will contact you if you win. The subject line of the email will say something like”Random Acts of Bling: You Won” I’ll also announce the winner in a blog post. If I can’t reach you then I might
have to relist your prize.

If you want to link or stumble this post it would be appreciated but is not required.

Comment/trackback/link should be about a random act of kindness or who you would give this jewelry to & why.

That was Quite the Bride

Watching the show “Say Yes to the Dress” you can definitely see what is called the family effect. I’m sure that all of the sales associates just cringe whenever a bride walks in with all of her college roommates and friends. It’s impossible to find a dress that everyone will like. Granted, some of the dresses are pretty ugly. I could make a better gown out of floor mats. You can tell when the bride comes out and she adores a dress and the family talks her out of it. Today one such occurrence was happening and the bride said “No, this is what I feel pretty in. I look good in it. This is what I’m wearing.” It was nice to see someone not get so swayed by others’ opinions.

Umm That Worked?

I was watching the previews for King of the Crown. It’s about Cyrus Frakes who is a pageant coach. He was trying to get Caitlin Upton of “Some Americans don’t have maps” fame back on the stage. I feel bad for the girl, but I would be so embarrassed that I’d never compete in a beauty pageant again. I’d pack up my Samsonite luggage and move far far away and happily lead a life outside the spotlight.

So all this guy had to say to convince her was something like “if ifs and buts were soup and nuts we’d never go hungry again” or something like that which didn’t make sense. Caitlin just looked at him and said “Ok I’ll do it.” Seriously? Some guy just has to make up something incompressible? I really hope she does well.
