Christmas Fashion: Burgundy

Traditional Christmas colors are red & green. The colors of rubies & emeralds. However, if you deepen the red to a burgundy, like a garnet, you will have a much better holiday look. This red looks much more sophisticated, is more flattering to most skin tones, & is a lot cheaper. This way you can get a much bigger, bolder piece of jewelry, for a fraction of the cost. Plus, garnets have a clarity that is rarely often seen in inexpensive rubies. So this holiday season, don’t think rubies, think garnet, you won’t be sorry.

Christmas Jewelry: Blue

Which would you rather have? A beautiful blue gemstone, or a green enamel wreath brooch? This may not seem to fit into the holiday season, but it is the color of winter. However, December’s birthstones are: blue topaz, blue zircon, turquoise, or tanzanite. See a theme? All of these are blue-ish. To me nothing accents a blue gemstone the way silver/white gold does. It looks absolutely perfect, like ice. I like aquamarine for this time of year because it is light enough to make people wonder if it’s a diamond, but still has a hint of color. Plus, it is inexpensive, so you still have money to get your family presents.  Families are funny like that. So next time that enamel wreath brooch calls your name, think, which one of these would you rather have?

Jewelry Christmas Ornaments

One of my favorite Christmas ornaments, isn’t an ornament at all. I feel bad sometimes that I don’t wear my Grandmother’s brooches. When they are not in use, I thread gold wire through the pin & then hang it from the Christmas tree. This makes the tree sentimental, & beautiful, & the jewelry still can be worn.
