In order to celebrate my blogaviersary, I bought a 2 carat tanzanite ring set in sterling silver, for under $50. Everyone has said that it looks like thousands of dollars. It really does. I never thought that I would be able to own so much tanzanite. I think it has to do with the fact that it’s set in silver, & tanzanite doesn’t seem to be suffering quite as much as it was a few years ago. However, the mines will still run out someday, so it’s a good idea to buy it now while it’s affordable.
Most of my precious gemstone rings are pretty tiny. This ring can be easily seen across the room. I’m not even into the "Lord of the Rings’, but I can’t help looking at it & thinking, my precious.

A year ago yesterday, I started this blog. I was excited to finally be able to share my opinions with people. I have so many of them that everyone in my real life had already tuned me out. It was funny because in middle school, I had wanted to become a writer. As I grew up I decided to major in something more practical & "employable". With blogging, I ended up becoming a writer anyways. I’m one of the few people that I know that gets to do something they really love. Hopefully this will last for many years to come, if not, I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity that I’ve been given.
I started a year & a day ago, madly wild about jewelry. That still hasn’t changed. When writing this blog, I spend countless hours staring at a picture & thinking "ohh sparkly". Enough with the sentimentality. What does a princess do when celebrating a big anniversary? She buys herself a new ring of course!

I’m not a huge Christmas fan. It is a lot of work & is usually just exhausting. So at Christmastime, I like to have a little incentive to not start throwing dinner rolls at people. So I buy myself a gift & put it away for after Christmas. It reminds me to keep things together so I can get a prize. In 2006 the bribe to myself was these blue topaz, peridot & sterling silver earrings that were only $5.99. The blue topaz are 4mm & the peridot are 6×4. I love how these move, when I wear these, I spend a lot more time looking in the mirror. They were definitely worth not losing my cool.
