I’m in the stage of life where guys aren’t around a lot. They are trying to finish up graduate degrees, or working at their first “real” jobs, sometimes working 60-80 hours a week, even 90. This seems to be what it takes to get ahead in the professional world. I really don’t know how they balance it all. In order to get ahead, they have to demonstrate that they are in touch with what is going on in the world. This is particularly difficult when they never seem to leave the office. They even work in cubicles so they can’t even SEE the outside world.

That’s why The Rundown is so cool. It’s a daily email geared towards men, & let’s them know what’s going on in the world & what the latest watercooler talk will be. Plus, it’s free. It is a guide to coolness, which cuts down on the time & research it takes to find out how & where to spend their limited free time. This means they can have a social life again. Finally, a connection with the outside world.

I always see cuff links in the store & wish I could buy them.  It’s one of the few pieces of jewelry for boys.  Yet another reason why it’s better to be a woman. However, I don’t know any guys that still wear French cuff shirts.  So for Father’s Day, the standard is to buy ties & cuff links, but that means getting the same gift every other year.  I’ve been thinking about other ways that the average guy can include more bling in his life.

1.  A nice keychain, I’ve seen sterling silver, or stainless steel keychains.

2.  A watch.  These are going out of style a little bit because of the use of cell phones to keep track of time.  However, it looks a lot more professional to keep checking your watch, than to keep opening your cell phone.

3.  Rings.  Usually men only own a wedding band, but that doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t want their own signature ring.

So there is definitely some tasteful bling out there for men, it’s just a matter of finding it.

I was looking for Valentine’s gifts for men. I happened upon these cuff links. That is just a lot of pink for a guy, but I think they are beautiful. I’m not usually into the stereotypical idea of pink for girls, blue for boys, but that is just a lot of pink. Do you know any guys who would wear these? If so, do they have any brothers?
