Everywhere I look people are saying just how bad things are going to get. I’m definitely worried. I would love to hear someone say that it’s all going to work out, because it will. Somehow. I give away a piece of jewelry once a week to basically say the same thing whether the person is going through financial problems, health problems, or just needs to feel special.

The winner can either keep the jewelry or give it away. To enter the contest just leave a comment with who you would give this to & why, or a random act of kindness. Oh & be sure you read the rules too.

The prize this week is a rose quartz & sterling silver pendant with a 16″ sterling chain. I chose pink because I wanted to have something that fit with breast cancer awareness month. The pendant is about 1 & 3.8″

The Rules:

Please don’t sell the jewelry, it’s to make whoever receives it feel special. Winner will be chosen by a random number generator at 6pm on Friday Mountain Time.

Contestants should be over 18 & live in the lower 48 states because I’ll be paying shipping. I won’t sell or abuse your mailing address. If you’ve already won a Random Act of Bling, you can win again, but please give the jewelry away at random.

Please leave a valid e-mail address, this is how I will contact you if you win. If I can’t reach you then I might have to relist your prize. If you want to link or stumble this post it would be appreciated but is not required.

Comment/trackback/link should be about a random act of kindness or who you would give this jewelry to & why.

I’ve been asked a few times where I get the jewelry for Random Acts of Bling. I wish that I was talented enough to make it, but I’m not. Most of the jewelry is handcrafted, just not by me. I tried to make jewelry once & then I got frustrated & wanted to throw things & the earrings fell apart & it just wasn’t pretty.

My hobby is shopping, so the jewelry comes from several different sources including ebay. I haven’t made a fortune in futures trading so I’m always looking for the best deals. However, I still try to find the nicest pieces that I can. I want people to be able to treasure the jewelry for a lifetime.

I would give this to my mother who is 69 years young, because tiger eyes are one of her favorites and she only has a pair of earings. I would also give it to her because she has arthritis and is often feeling lots of pain and feeling low. sometimes I bring her flowers just to help pick up her day.

Update: This contest is now closed but a new one will start Monday.

If I had a superpower, it would probably be worrying. If there was some kind of Olympics for stressing out, I would take the gold medal. Sometimes I just need to be reminded that although things seem bad, they can get better. That’s why I started random acts of bling, where I give away a piece of jewelry every week at random. Hopefully, it will brighten someone’s day.

The winner can either keep the pendant or give it away to someone else. Entering the contest is easy, just read the rules then leave a comment with who you would this to & why, or a random act of kindness.

The prize this week is an approx. 44 carat genuine tiger eye pendant with amethyst accent. The pendant comes with a 16 inch sterling chain & measures 1 & 5/8″

The Rules:

One entry per person per week.

Please don’t sell the jewelry, it’s to make whoever receives it feel special. Winner will be chosen by a random number generator at 6pm on Friday Mountain Time.

The random number generator has spoken. It chose Cynthia to win with her comment:

If I had the chance to, I would definitely give these to my mom. My mom is my best friend and has been there for my husband and I from the very beginning. Over the past year and a half, I got sick and had to quit working. I have no income coming in, my husband has two jobs, and my mother is disabled also. Money is so very tight right now (our car was reposessed amongst other bad things) but my mom helps us to get through it all but helping out in her little ways, $20 here, a meal there, even if it’s buying us a $1 lottery ticket to get our hopes up! We’ll all play board games together, or play the online bingo game too, just to “entertain ourselves” for free. My mom is always coming up with new ways for all of us to have fun with no to low funds, and helps us to get over these rough patches when she herself is going through some of her own. She’s so strong, and resilient, and I have learned more from her than she’ll ever know or realize. She’s a beautiful person who deserves such beautiful earrings like these. We also have no money for Christmas gifts this year, and these would definitely be a Christmas gift for her that would totally make her cry! Ha! I know she would love them. When I worked before, my sister and I went in on a diamond tennis bracelet, the most expensive piece of jewelry any of us ever bought! But someone stole this bracelet and my mother’s heart was broken ever since. It would be nice to have her be able to wear something that makes her proud when she takes the bus on a day trip to Atlantic City. Thank you:)

I hope your mom enjoys these earrings. Thanks to everyone who entered & check back for a new contest on Monday.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. With the economy the way it is seems like everyone is trying to save money from auto insurance quotes to shopping at thrift stores. I actually love thrift stores & if Rachel Zoe can wear vintage clothes, so can I. Here are just a few of the Pros & cons of thrift store shopping.

Pros:

It’s definitely cheaper than shopping at a department store.

You will find unique pieces that no one else has.

There are often great brand names that I’d never be able to afford in the mall.

Cons:

Items might be damaged or need repair.

You have to sort through a ton of clothes.

There isn’t a choice of sizes.

I’d definitely rather shop at Susies Deals which has new clothing for $5.99 or less. (It’s pretty much my favorite place in the entire world.) However, I have found some really nice leather purses at the thrift store.

Last week on the Rachel Zoe Project, Rachel said to a reporter something like that she only wears vintage clothes, or she only loves vintage clothes, or something like that. I’m surprised that she can find anything vintage to fit her, she’s so tiny. Personally I would love to wear clothes that were made before size 0 came into existence. Granted, it might not hurt to look at Lipozene reviews, but I don’t think a size 6-8 is huge.

I was shocked to learn how much Rachel Zoe spends on her vintage clothes. I guess she refers to them as a collection. It’s understandable seeing that it’s vintage & a designer outfit. However, I’d have trouble spending more on clothes than a car payment. I thought that the allure of vintage clothing was that it is cheaper.

A teen magazine was recently doing something similar to the campaign for real beauty. The idea is to be able to accept yourself as beautiful even if you don’t look like a size two model after they’ve been airbrushed. It’s nice to finally have Hollywood realize how absurd they are. However, you can’t escape these images unless you get moving trucks & find somewhere without the media. I was researching a little more about these campaigns & then my sarcastic side came out. While I’d rather see these ad campaigns more than most there is a certain irony here. Sorry, but now we have to look to companies to give us SELF esteem?

Update: This contest is now closed but a new one will start on Monday.

I usually just watch awards shows for the red carpet. I really don’t care who wins, I can read about that later. I just want to see all of the sparkly jewelry & the pretty, pretty dresses. I would hate to deal with all of the paparazzi & size 0 outfits, but let’s face it, the jewelry would be nice.

I’m on a one person quest to brighten people’s day by giving them sparkly sparkly jewelry. Hopefully, they’ll be able to look at it when they are having a bad day & smile. The winner can either keep the jewelry or give it away to someone else. To enter the contest just read the rules & leave a comment with who you would give this to & why, or a random act of kindness.

The prize this week are sterling silver earrings with diamond accents.

The Rules:
