It’s pretty easy to figure out which list they will be on using context clues. It’s a simple trick that works every time.

It can be a reward for someone who’s doing a great job or just needs encouragement. we were moving in to a new home in a new corner of this country. I was too old for it, but I felt incredibly lost, alone, and so very homesick for the place I knew so well that we’d left behind that day as we moved boxes around and unloaded our belongings. It was just after thanksgiving day and we hadn’t even had a meal, because our possessions were on a truck, traveling our way still.

I’ll never forget that knock on the door. A beautiful little Hispanic lady stood there, holding out a box of holiday cookies. “Welcome to this place!” she said, and smiled. I never saw her again, and I’m really not sure where she came from, but as she walked away, I watched her with tears in my eyes. I doubt she’ll ever know what those cookies meant.
