Merry Christmas
December 25th, 2006 @ 1:18 pm

Dear Blogging Friends,

Yes, I’m using orange, even at Christmas.  It’s what I do.  Thank you to everyone who has stopped by & left comments.  This is a pathetic excuse for an e-card.  E-cards have scrolly fonts & long winded sayings that I never understand.  If there was a Christmas card that somehow worked in the word “crap” I could relate to that. I hope Santa brings you everything you want.  Happy Holidays!

Christmas Collection
December 19th, 2006 @ 1:14 pm

There was a hallmark commercial when I was young of a very large Christmas tree with only one Christmas ornament on it, the couple’s first Christmas together. My mom in an effort to avoid this, always buys a matching set of ornaments for the tree each year. Each of the kids get one, & we keep our ornaments separately in a box. Some years we have made crafts of it: punching tin ornaments or painting ceramic or wood ornaments as a family. We also each keep a Christmas card with the ornament & the year written on it. This way, we will always take our memories with us & will never have a one ornament tree. We each have an ornament collection that it would take most people years to collect, full of sentimentality. Hmm I thought I was making up the word sentimentality, but the spell checker seems ok with it.  I learn something new everyday. Works for me!

Christmas Decorating
Spanish Houses, literally
December 19th, 2006 @ 11:55 am

If you’ve noticed my decorating style, I gravitate towards all things Spanish. I’ve always wanted to own a property in Spain. Maybe I will retire there, or own a vacation home. It’s one of those quirky things about me that I only dream about but never act on. I wouldn’t even know where to begin buying Overseas Properties, let alone Properties in Spain. Property Mart Overseas can help. They have listings of Apartments & houses to buy abroad, & all sorts of properties & houses abroad. They can make your, or my, dream a reality.

Christmas in Utah: 7-8 months of snow
December 14th, 2006 @ 8:24 pm

Hi, come inside. Our wreath is on the inside of the door so the squirrels/rabbits/deer/frost/snow don’t get at it.  Plus, I’m rarely outside to look at it because of all the squirrels/rabbits/deer/frost/snow, so this way I get to enjoy it more.

I was going to take a picture of our big Christmas tree, but the lights were on it & it just looked like a Christmas tree blob.  This is our angel tree.  Every year we buy or make an angel ornament in memory of my sister who passed away.  The garlands are my grandma’s necklaces & it is decorated with brooches from both of my grandmas & my great grandma.

We got this nativity scene at Dillards for $9.99 a few years ago.  That makes me happy.

This is our Christmas village.  Each year we add a new piece that we paint together.  Next year we will have to build a bigger fireplace.

I also was going to get a picture of the Christmas lights at night.  However, again there was a problem with the blob.  Luckily, nature decorates for us.  Unfortunately, nature decorates for us from September until April.

Come back inside before your catch your death & have some wassil.  I don’t cook a lot, but I do try to con people into making me wassil whenever possible. Happy Holidays!
