I always wonder what will be our generations orange flowered velvet couch. You know the couches that everyone seems to have now, that we all just wonder why would anyone buy that? So in an attempt to have a more classic home that won’t be outdated in a few years, which will save me a lot of money I want to identify what people will still think is great years from now & what people will be questioning our shopping savy over. There is so much to mock, I mean err critique, that I’m turning this into a series that I haven’t named yet. Maybe I will name it the "series without a name". Anyways, any thoughts on to what you think will be outdated in a few years, I would love to know.
A family of 9 & one bathroom sounds like a horror movie, but it is my life. When all of the family gathers, with all the kids, it is even scarier than most movies. We have an extra bathroom that just has never been finished even though we’ve been living here for 10 years. Things just always get in the way. I am moving it to the top of the home improvement list though. I got some great tips on bathroom remodeling from this site. They have everything from decorative ideas like a gorgeous ceramic hand-painted sink, to mounting a holder for the hairdryer on the wall. (Why didn’t I think of that? Oh well, at least someone thought of it & told me). My house will be much more conducive to entertaining once all the remodeling is done. What’s next on your remodeling list?
One of the easiest ways to make a headboard for not a lot of money is to have an upholstered headboard. Upholstered headboards are the latest rage, & they are very comfortable if you read in bed. All you need is some fabric & a staple gun, & a form. You might even be able to use your current headboard. I have an upholstered headboard & when I want a change I just buy $5 worth of fabric, & then spend 15 minutes stapling it on. These can sell for hundreds of dollars in the stores, but you can cover it in velvet, suede, or fake leather, & get that look for only a few dollars. Complete directions can be found here.
It seems like whenever anyone says that their bedroom feels unfinished it is because they don’t have a headboard. When they talk to a designer they invariably are happy with anything that comes with an actual bed. Choosing a bed isn’t as expensive as you might think & I have lots of great ideas because I’m Sarakastic & that’s what I do. It’s not the commitment that many people might think it is. So for the next few days I will be blogging about affordable headboards, many that you can make yourself so you can customize them to exactly your tastes.
