Turn your home into a castle on a budget

I had my doubts when David became the design star.  Yes, he is hot, but he is also boring.  I just wasn’t enamored by the premise of his show, "Color Splash".  This had people thinking color splash is actually a phrase & trying to use it in a sentence which was quite frankly just confusing.  Plus, the show doesn’t seem to have a budget, & I would much rather see how to use color for not a lot of money, anyone can make a room look good for tons of money.  (Well, not counting Trading Spaces".)

I think it would be much more interesting if they took the show in the direction of, what it’s like as a designer starting out in Hollywood, more behind the scenes stuff.  The show I did watch had David admitting that he couldn’t work on the room as much as he liked because he is always on the phone.  This was honest, a lot of shows wouldn’t have done this, they usually make it look like only two people are working in the room when it’s more like dozens.  This can be especially discouraging for the average homeowner who thinks that they can remodel a kitchen entirely by themselves in 48 hours because they saw it on TV.  I think they should stop trying to make David a star, & start showing what his life is really like, without scripts.
