Turn your home into a castle on a budget

Last summer was the longest summer of my entire life. Summers used to be filled with relaxing & reading. However, this was the summer of siding replacement. We decided to replace the siding ourselves (big mistake), & then had to paint it, & put on second, & third, & even fourth coats. What really kills me is that we will just have to do it all again in a few years.

If you live in Houston you can avoid all that by visiting the ALL-Tex site where you can get information on Houston replacement windows, siding, sunrooms, carports & much more. I learned that a good set of windows makes the house quieter, cooler, more secure & even healthier because you’ll have less allergens entering the home. If you are going to tackle a big project like this, go to the experts. Trust me, you do not want to have a summer of siding.

I’m not really into Feng Shui, it’s just too many rules for me. I recently met a friend who was very into Feng Shui. They said that they could tell everything about my personality just by looking at the way I arrange furniture. I think I replied with “That’s utter crap”. Here is my version of Feng shui, or why the furniture is arranged the way it is…

Couches are placed so they can best see the TV.

Anything you see in a set of three most likely came from the dollar store, hence why I could afford three of them.

Rugs are usually put on an angle because they never seem to be big enough for the room so I try & fake it.

The bed is pushed up against the wall so that I have room to tae bo. Otherwise I would break a leg.

My desk is not facing the window because the glare form the window would make it so I can’t see my laptop.

I don’t know what that says about my personality. I believe in some aspects of Feng Shui, I’ve heard people say it has changed their lives, but personally, there’s a reason my furniture is arranged the way it is.

fork.jpgIs it just me or have forks gotten a lot sharper lately? I have a sterling silver fork from my Grandmother, it’s called a pickle fork, because it’s sharp & should only be used for stabbing stuff, not eating off of. I was recently looking for new flatware & I noticed that there are tons of really sharp forks out there. They should come with a warning label, that’s just dangerous.

I don’t know how many bridal showers I have been to in my lifetime, I’m thinking a lot. I’m almost 25 & not even close to getting married. The point is, I’ve given away a lot of blenders, but I’ve never received one. Many of my friends are older & still single. It’s not a bad life. However, I have had several single friends say “I just want a blender, is that so wrong?”

We have successful careers, good relationships, & are generally happy. We are open to marriage, it just hasn’t happened yet. However, we just tend to wait for the basic necessities like blenders, toasters, & digital audio cables. It’s enough already. I cook a lot, & there are somethings I just shouldn’t have to wait for. Abtelectronics.com has tons of cool electronics & appliances. With their free shipping I can finally afford to buy a blender for myself. It’s time.
