Douglas Wilson is a jerk
January 27th, 2008 @ 6:40 pm

I would love to be posting about the new/old version of Trading Spaces. However, instead I have to post about how Douglas Wilson is a jerk. I was wondering about how they would bring Paige Davis back. Would they just act like she’d never been forced off the show? Would they just pretend that she’d been in the bathroom for years on end? From what I’ve seen of episode previews it seems like most of the designers are really glad to have Paige back. I think she brings some life & order back to the show. She says what the people at home are thinking “Should we really put 2,000 holes in the drywall?”

Doug seemed to keep making snide remarks last night. He said he wasn’t sure he was glad Paige was back because she always messed up the projects. He didn’t seem to be too happy to be talking to her at the reveal either. It could’ve been like a teasing thing, but it felt more like being a bully. Maybe he wanted her job. Either way, Douglas Wilson is a jerk. Did anyone else see this? What are your thoughts?

This blog is now dofollow
January 21st, 2008 @ 2:30 am

I had no idea when I started blogging that most comment links were nofollow, meaning they didn’t get any search engine juice. I’ve decided to try being a dofollower. This means that when you leave a certain number of thoughtful, relevant comments, you’ll get a link to your blog or site. Notice how thoughtful & relevant are italicized? That’s because it’s important. I won’t count comments like “nice post”, but I really do want to hear your opinions on things so comment away. Here is a list of other blogs that dofollow.

Paige Davis is Back
January 18th, 2008 @ 11:46 pm

The previews for the new season of Trading Season announce that Paige Davis is back. She looks the same, except she has a mullet now. They are also touting her as a designer. Can we say uh oh? My immediate thought was, great now the show can get back to it’s roots.

Of course TLC had to throw in a twist. Trading Spaces won’t be trading between neighbors anymore, they’ll be trading between people like a mother in law to daughter in law. I guess I’ll give a new format a try. It just seemed like they are bringing Paige back because they knew they made a mistake by switching to a new format. However, they can’t admit they are wrong, so they are making the same mistake again by switching to another new format instead of going back to what works. What do you think? Will the new Trading Spaces be an improvement?

Whatever happened to the thank you note?
January 15th, 2008 @ 8:44 pm

It used to be that sending a thank you note after receiving a gift was a given. At least, that’s the way I think it used to be. I don’t know a lot of people my age that send thank you notes. This is something that I need to think about after all of my Christmas presents. However, I know one person that sends thank you notes, & it makes such a big difference. People always feel appreciated & special when they receive an unexpected letter. Plus, it can be fun to write them.

I know that it’s hard to be motivated to complete such projects. I’ve found that it’s a lot more fun if I can be creative & have fun. Just get some fun stationary & have some custom address labels printed. With address labels you save so much time. Besides the fact that I don’t have the best handwriting, so the envelope looks so much nicer with a label on it. I was just looking at Vista Print, I’ve ordered business cards from them before & was very impressed with their service. Vista Print is also really affordable. They have a fantastic selection of address labels. You can even upload your own design. They have a lot of design templates to choose from that you can browse by subject. There is even a design wizard that can help you find the perfect label. One of the examples shows a wedding portrait. This would be great if you are sending thank you notes for your wedding. Bring back the thank you note & see what a big difference it can make.
