I was disappointed to find out that Trading Spaces had raised their budget to $2,000. Plus, they are still giving away $500 gift cards to Home Depot. Plus, they don’t have to pay for labor. Plus, there have always been rumors that Home Depot gives the designer’s deals on their products. I don’t know whether that’s true or not. With all of that, it’s just not practical for the average home owner to replicate a Trading Spaces room on a budget. If you aren’t on a budget, there’s no point in trying to have a Trading Spaces room. There are a lot of stylish, high end, non Trading Spaces rooms that you can have if you aren’t on a budget.
It’s good for the homeowners, but bad for the viewers. Most anyone can do a room makeover for $2,000. You should be able to buy new furniture & install flooring for that price. It’s not a challenge & the rooms all look very similar now. The designers don’t have to push themselves like they used to on the $1,000 budget. The only way I’m ok with the change is if they come to my house. (Just kidding, I wouldn’t let them in the door).

Dear New Trading Spaces Carpenters,
You come from a long & proud tradition of good carpenters like Amy Wynn, Ty, Faber & even Carter. All of these people were very likable personalitys. Some of which have made it very big.
However, the new carpenters are such prima donnas. There’s only one word to describe this new batch. Snippy. It seems like every single project they argue about how it’s impossible. The old carpenters would figure out a way to make the designer’s vision happen. You have to improvise when you only have 48 hours to decorate a room. If you say no to every single project you will have an empty room. Yes you are pretty, but so were Carter & Ty. It takes more than that. Shape up or go home, you will never be famous when you are so negative & annoying.
Sincerely,
A concerned viewer

I loved watching The Next Iron Chef the first week. I thought “this is going to be the best series ever. We get to know more about the future Iron Chef & we still get to watch people cook really really fast”. That’s the mark of a genius TV show, cooking really really fast.
This week, I was a little disillusioned. I thought “Don’t we have a new Iron Chef yet?.”. The Iron Chef’s all share the same characteristics, they are annoying & pompous. I was really gunning for Chef Besh because he is the only one who seems to have fun. Chef Aaron has problems with time, tries to cheat the buzzer, & then complains about it over & over again. They might be able to cook, but they just don’t seem like nice people. Really, I don’t want to see any of these people on the Iron Chef. It’s a good thing that the Iron Chefs don’t talk a lot. Just stand there & look scared of the chairman, that’s all we ask.

I’m watching a Six Feet Under marathon & I came in on the middle of the series. I have no idea what is going on or who the people are, but I love the way they decorate. Granted, you probably don’t want your house to feel like a mortuary but there are still a few home improvement tips to be learned from the Six Feet Under sets.
If you have to use “cheap” tile stay away from white. One of the kitchens is decorated with bold red & black tiles. You just notice the unique colors instead of the fact that the tile is plain.
The outside of the house has very dark trim. I can’t tell if it’s dark green or black but it lends an air of elegance & sophistication affordably.
So often we go for neutral sofas. This is smart because our furniture will be around for years. However, you can still have a slight pattern in a neutral color to bring more texture to the room.
If you have wooden stairs, put a runner on them for a warmer feel.
